The index employs a rigorous selection process to identify 25 quality midcap stocks. The eligibility criteria for the Nifty Midcap Select Index today focus on market capitalization, liquidity, and trading parameters.Companies must be constituents of the Nifty Midcap 150 index. They should also be a part of the F&O segment. The stock selection considers the six-month average free-float market capitalization of companies ranked within the top 50, which are given preference for inclusion.
Liquidity is assessed through trading frequency and impact cost. Stocks must have traded at least 90% of days over the previous six months, with an average impact cost of 0.5% or less for 90% of observations.
The index undergoes quarterly rebalancing in March, June, September, and December. During rebalancing, the Nifty midcap select share price today of these stocks that fail to meet the eligibility criteria are replaced with the next eligible stock while maintaining sector representation.
