What is an F&O ban?

A F&O (Futures and Options) ban is a restriction placed on specific stocks in the derivatives market. When a stock’s total open interest exceeds 95% of the Market-Wide Position Limit (MWPL), it enters the F&O ban list, preventing the initiation of new positions in that stock's futures and options contracts.
